Lisa
Susan McCalpin is a Microsoft Office Specialist Master and a
Microsoft Authorized Instructor. She is a Microsoft Certified expert in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access
and also
teaches PC Fundamentals, Windows Operating System software and information
management with Microsoft Outlook.
She
has served as a computer professional for over 20 years and is coming up
on her 18th year as a software trainer.
With
a Bachelor’s degree (University of North Florida, Jacksonville) in
Psychology and Behavior Modification, along with a practical background in
administrative skills and office automation, Lisa is able to teach
students how to be their most productive. "My main goal here"
she says, "is to teach people in administrative positions how to use
their computer to its fullest potential."
Lisa
believes the best way to effectively teach software is to know the product
well. That is why every product she teaches, she regularly uses. Lisa says
that "Being just ‘book taught’ on a program doesn’t quite cut
it. To know the product you must use it." That is why she believes
that a hands-on, performance based training style is conducive to the best
and most productive learning experience.
Lisa also believes that “repetition is the root of all
learning. If
you do it enough, you will learn it.”
Patience,
understanding, and expert knowledge are what students’ experience when
they take a training class with Lisa. When one takes a close look at the
thousands of post-instructional student evaluations, the two words that
stand out most are "Patient" and "Knowledgeable."
She
is the mother of a very gifted 23 year-old son; a senior at Georgia
Southern University and a National Champion Inline speed skater.
She is also the wife of a Management Consultant for a consulting
firm based in Atlanta. When she is not glued to her computer, Lisa enjoys
playing tennis, boating, fishing, roller skating, and playing with her
three Labradoodles.
